More Treasures LOL!

One can never have too many treasures, the vintage style of days gone by just cant seem to be captured and the chain stores of today. I found many more treasures than this while I was out garage saling on Friday, these are some of my favorite finds this week!
I really love the pyrex bowl, I'm not sure of this design, I just know I like it! The kitty planter, angel vase, and green girl with dogs will all go into my "girlie" building. I love jadeite and it doesn't come along to often around here. The little chick is marked japan, the frog just caught my eye, I think the pink crown and bow is what grabbed me!
I also found some nice treasures for my daughters very first apt. we'll be moving her in next weekend. So I may be skipping the sales next weekend, ho hum......, summers not quite over yet though, stay tuned!

Blogland Block Party~so much fun!

I've recently had the honor of joining a block party hosted by a very talented artist and Blogger Elizabeth of Creative Breathing. I have never made a block before so I have to admit I was a bit nervous, but I couldn't help but join! Now I'm hooked and want to make many more of these fun little paper creations. Here are two I recently made, I've actually finished another today!

The one above is in honor of my Home State of Michigan. I grew up watching freighters from our cabin on Lake Huron. I've toured many local lighthouses and falls. And of course the beach is one of my favorite places to hang out! See the tiny pink sea shells, what an awesome garage sale find!

This little puppy block is definately me. I love pink, sparkly, vintage finds! I recommend giving this awesome craft a try. Just punch holes in the corners and hang with a ribbon or connect a bunch together for a wonderful garland. That is what dear Elizabeth will do with hers she recieves from all her blog friends. Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful craft E!
Blessings............

It's Blueberry Picking Time!

I spent the evening with my parents picking wild blueberries. Every year we go a couple of times and I try to put up enough for muffins, cakes, and pancakes throughout our long winters here in Northern Michigan. Every year it seems to become a competition to see who can pick the most! Dad is 72 and is slowing down, so now he talks about how many he used to be able to pick! It makes me smile, I usually try to find him a good patch so he can sit in one spot. Mom usually goes off on her own and quietly picks her pail full beating both Dad and myself! These are memories I will always cherish, and hopefully there will be many more Picking days ahead!

~~~Found Treasures~~~
I haven't shared my love of garage sales. Every Saturday Morning I pick my parents up at 7:15 am and away we go. Friday night I spread the paper out, highlight the Saturday sales, and make my list according to time and location! I use map quest if I'm unsure of an address, and I place a star or note "sounds good" next to the ones that sound good! It usually takes us most of the morning to get to all the sales, then we stop at Walmart, then Dad buys us lunch. Today we were home by 12:45 pm, a trunk full of treasures, bellies full. This is the normal Saturday routine! Here are some of my treasures from today.
Vintage Birthday candle holders complete in there own little storage jars, and mini cupcake liners.
Miniature molds some in animal shapes. I'm trying to think of a project for these. Maybe part of a garland or mini Christmas ornies for a kitchen tree. Suggestions are always welcome!
I love vintage jewelry, these costume pieces were bright and caught my eye. The yellow necklace still has the tag marked Coro. The green is a pin.
Children's craft projects from years gone bye. I love the character in these little guys.
And I am always loving anything Christmas. These little books would be great to add to a Christmas doll. The tiny clothes pins and lines would make a cute garland, the pine cone and berry picks will come in handy when I start making Christmas items.
And then it was Nap time!!!
Sharing more goodies from my "Girlie Building"
A Collection of figurines fills one shelf in my curio cabinet, a gift from my dear mother in law.
I love these little trinket boxes, most are marked Japan. The vintage photo stand holds pictures of my mother and father when they were in there late teens.
A vintage cut glass plate holds a heart made from an old quilt.
I've just started to collect these little wooden angels, I love the two in front on rocking horses. I've got them displayed on an old handled glass plate.
A simple milk glass plate with a painted rose sits on a windowsill.
More treasures in my "Girlie Building"
Here are more pictures of stuff I've collected over the years. Most of the items are from garage sales, estate sales, some gifts, some childhood belongings! No matter where they are from I treasure them all and am glad to share them with you.
A little purse hangs on the wall with a beaded necklace and floral hankie tucked inside.
One shelf of my treasure cabinet holds milk glass vases with vintage beads hanging out, a vintage brush and mirror set, and vintage avon bottles. Topaz is my birthstone!
My sweet daughter surprised me this week with this Holt Howard set of Cat Shakers. I came home from work and she had been at a sale with grandma and grandpa and had thought of me! I've had my eye on this set for awhile so they were a pleasant surprise!My doggie picture. He's such a dapper fellow! I found this chalk drawing at a sale and fell in love with it. The really cool part is it is signed by the artist "Marcy 74" , the exact way I spell my name, often Marcy ends with an i or ie. I knew it was for me!
A little boy planter, he had such a sweet face and such soft colors I couldn't resit! That is all for now but there is so much more that I have to share, please keep checking back!
~My Little Girlie Building~
I've been wanting to share pictures of my little building for so long. It's been a work in progress for several years now. It even was used as a chicken coop one winter a few years back. We didnt have anywhere to keep the chickens over the winter so we lined the floor and up the walls with plastic put there pens in and it worked pretty good!
As you can see my little building is very girlie, with pink trim, white painted floors with splatted paint in pink, yellow, light blue and light green, then polka dots speckled here and there in the same colors. The curtains were brand new vintage from the 60's and I had been holding on to them for quite some time, they worked perfect! The vintage hanging light was purchased at a garage sale for a whopping $5.00, the glass is about 1/4" thick its really pretty when lit up!
Here are a few treasures in one corner, the pink dress was mine as a little girl, my mom was going to get rid of several of my clothes from my childhood I took them home and this was in the bag. The hanger its on is so cute, made from wood, irmi style, I just purchased it in Pennsylvania at an antique store.
A close up of a few more treasures. The kitty pitcher is made in Japan by Lipper and Mann, I loved her face, so awesome. She was a recent purchase from Pennsylvania also!
This is another shelf on the wall with some sweet kitties and a puppy. My building is a work in progress, but theres lots more to show and I want to share it all with you. It's a peaceful pleasant spot for me to enjoy. I think I need a name for my building, I may have to have a contest to "name my building". I'll let you know when!
